Pic: 366 - The island of Mehetia

Away from 100 kl on Est of Tahiti, in the prolongation of the peninsula, The island of Mehetia is the youngest volcano of the chain forming the Society archipelago. Its cone is not yet rich in vegetation (even if wild goats already live there) and coral has not yet had the time to encircle its side. Mehetia which is an inhabited island, a private property, and is no longer an active volcano but earthquakes are frequent. Several million year from now this crater will become an atoll.
